Rosy Clouds 彩霞 for Pipa, Sheng and Wind Orchestra
$80.00
ca. 6.5'
At dawn and dusk, the sky often glows with brilliant, multicolored clouds just before sunrise and after sunset. As sunlight shifts and the wind changes, these ever-transforming clouds resemble spilled paint—free and spontaneous—forming abstract canvases suspended in the sky. The wind band piece Rosy Clouds captures this breathtaking phenomenon through variations in tempo, dynamics, modality, and melodic transformation. It features two distinctive Chinese instruments—the pipa and the sheng—whose timbres help evoke layer upon layer of radiant cloudscapes. This work was composed to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Guangzhou Youth Palace Wind Orchestra.
